The Great Cambridge Beer Meet Swindle on Fri 21st August

Post by Tequilla6 » Tue Aug 11, 2009 4:51 pm

Hi, Guys, It's that time of the month again  and we are looking to meet up at around 20:00 on Friday 21st August at the Kingston Arms in Kingston Street, Cambridge, just off Mill Road and would put an invitation out too old timers and newcomers alike for a beer evening including a home brew tasting extravaganza.

The more people the merrier, although not quite true as the less people we get the more home brew tasting we gotta drink and the merrier we get

Current line up on the taster Beer front are

Catfish Brewery
MJC ABC Porter
Sambucus Elderflower Bitter
Catfish Brewery Landlord Bitter

Jubby Brewery
Evil Twin

As well as the very fine selection of 8+ Cask Ales that the Kingston Arms will be supplying.

PS Anyone want to add one of their tipples to the list PM me and I will add it on.

Cheers

We have some more imminent sample beers coming the the "Great Cambridge Beer Swindle" courtesy of maltloaf who is among the number of guys joining us on Friday at the Kingston Arms. I will update the thread as soon as I hear the names of the brews.

Yes, well. There's a choice of three.

1. A weirdly dodgy cloudy pale thing that I could seriously get away with calling Farmhouse style. OG1049, 30EBU. It's not ruined in the normal sense, and it doesn't wreck your palate so I'm tempted to bring it for discussion at least.
2. A crowd pleaser pale bitter, OG1037, 32EBU.
3. A nearly dark mild, also OG1037 but with fuggles from the garden.

Any preferences? Or is just

Just to say thanks for all who turned up, It was a rather sombre experience for me when our sample beers went down better than the commercial beers available at the bar

Good to see some new faces and sad a few of the regulars couldn't make it.

Cheers to all

'twas indeed a very enjoyable and informative evening, cheers to all for welcoming the new boy! =D>

All the beers were excellent (obviously you can't trust my nose, the 'forecort' beer was very tasty  ) and hopefully I can start producing beers approaching the same quality when putting all the advice given into practice!

Am sat here waiting for a big sack of lovely grains and hops from Paul @ BB to be delivered- here's hoping I'll have brewed something worth bringing next time round [-o<

Cheers,
Jamie
