cornie problems

Post by bod » Thu Sep 21, 2006 9:40 pm

as i mentioned previously, one of my cornies seems to have a leak. when i force carb'd my beer at 20 PSI, i could hear a slight hiss comming from the IN post/quick disconnect at the top, its where the wee platic screw bit is. i put a few drops of water in the groove and it started to bubble.
so i disconnected it, and the hiss got worse from the actual post itself. i think its the poppet, so i've got a couple on order from the H&G, but i'm thinking that i might need a new quickdisconnect as well.

has anyone had this sort of issue before?

I've got some cornie spares, including poppetts, on order from H&G. I'm hoping to receive them today. If they do arrive they will have taken about two weeks to come so the moral is; don't wait until you've got a brew waiting to go into the keg before ordering spares. Also, I've got 5 kegs with about three different types of popett valve so it's not as easy as just ordering popett valves, you need to know/guess which ones they are.

luckily/thankfully both of my kegs have the manufactures name and logos etched into them, ones firebrand, the others a cornelius keg. one also says Canada Dry on it. when i got it though it was full of lemonade syrup. stank to high heaven! :x

they do seal so much better at high pressure.

Bod get to Edinburgh and buy a full tank of CO2!

My poppets dont really seal all that well either but if there's enough pressure it's fine.
