Is there a kit that make beer similar to that from Hopback

Post by JamesHughes » Wed Nov 04, 2009 10:07 pm

To be a little more specific, the other half like most of the paler beers from Hopback brewary. Summer Lightening, Crop Circle, the Lemon grass one. She also likes the honey beer you can get in bottles off the shelf.

As a newcomer (just a couple of still conditioning brews done so far), I would like to get something similar to the above from kits, or slightly modified kits, but have no idea which would be an appropriate starting place.

Can anyone advise as to possibilities? Receipes for Summer Lightening I have googled are rather to advanced for me at the moment.

TIA

James

The closed kit I ever found to Summer Lightning was Burton Bridge Summer Ale though its not really close it is similar.

Thanks MightyMouth

I guess from the almost deafening silence, that there are few if any kit beers that fit the description! Oh well!

Think I understood some of that!

Not sure what a hop tea or a cascade is though, can anyone enlighten me. Is cascade a type of hop?

You could kidnap some HopBack yeast and use that for a touch of authenticity. If Crop Circle is your fancy, then add some coriander.

cascade is a type of hops :D ....no idea if its in the beers you mentioned but it very nice ...
hop tea is where you put the hop in a cloth bag aand boil it for 10- 15 mins and throw the liquid in with the rest of the stuff in the fermenter. dry hop is where you throw the hops in a bag and throw the bag into the fermenter after a few days. There ar lots of threads that will give more and better detail on the ins and outs of it.
