I just went to my local sainsburys and picked up a bottle of Old Tom Ale. its nearly a barley wine at 8.5% and aparently the recipe is from a brewers book dated 1899!

whilst im not geared up for AG yet i will be soon and i URGE all those that are and have the wisdom/skill to clone beers to try this beauty and make a recipe! those that arent, go to sainos and pick up a bottle!

its like a beer met a port and they gave birth to a baby that they cradled in a raisin.... yum

there's a recipe for it in BYOBRA.

its on a long list of future brews of mine - not sure that the grain will all fit in my mashtun though as needs almost 8Kg of grain for 23 litres!!!

Then just brew a shorter brew length which you MT can handle.
