Hi all, I am planning to do my first brew tomorrow and I have bought some Star San after reading many good reviews on this site. There is a lot of posts with different star san:water ratios, I have a 500ml spray bottle and I have mixed approx. 1ml of star san to 500ml of Tesco Ashbeck water and gave it a shake and it is ready to go for tomorrow evening - is this an ok mix or should i be adding more/less star san? I was planning on putting the equipment (spoon, air lock, hydrometer) into the fermenter and then spray the inside of the fermenter and equipment then pour excess gathered at the bottom back into the spray bottle (via tap so it gets sterilised) and repeat.
Then refill spray bottle again with excess and clean the draining board (standard aluminium) and stack the fermenter and equipment to drip dry. Will this be sufficient? Will it take more than 500ml? I have been reading some other posts that mention making up 2-5 gallons but this seems a waste of star san and storage space. Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks.
