Cupboard warmer for FV's

Post by Vossy1 » Wed Sep 27, 2006 5:10 pm

The colder weather is drawing near and it was time to make the cupboard warmer for my beloved fermenting beers.

I have a cupboard under my stairs where my beer, and the good lady wifey's wine ferments. I lagged this cupboard with polystyrene board so it insulates very well.

The warmer consists of a wickes central heating thermostat, a light fitting and 100watt bulb, some light cable and a plug. It's not too exciting but this will keep my precious alcoholic beverages, and their yeasts. nice and happy :P

It's tested and works a treat 8)

Hi Matt, I temperature mapped at three different heights. The important ones top and bottom were 21 and 18 respectively.

I've not bothered hooking it up to a fan as I've placed the bulb near the floor so convection can do the hard work instead. I've put the thermo mid way up the space height.

I set my house thermo to 16 most of the time...I like it cool. I would imagine come winter that's a little too low for ale yeasts.
