hi there
Ive been having big problems keeping mash run going, ever since i started brewing my favorite beer hefeweizen . Its seems to be the high proportion of wheatmalt in there that clogs
the strainer , sometimes i have to stir up the mash just to get it going . Ive heard that adding rice hulls to the mash helps but i cant find them anywhere. A friend of mine told me to try wheat BRAN. I tried some in a hefeweizen with 70% wheatmalt and it flowed out of my mash tun perfectly. I only added 300g. Ive tried it on three brews since (lager, pale ale and scottish 80/) and it did not impart any flavours into these brews .

That's a good tip yopper!
Where did you get your wheat bran from?
Did you just add it to the first few kilos in the mash tun i.e. around your tun strainer or did you mix it right through the mash?

i got it from a horse feed store, cost about £13 for 25kg . i just mixed it in with the grain before i mashed in. as i say you only need about 300>500g per 5kg grain bill.

Top tip! Not had a stuck mash yet but never gone higher than 50%, maybe I'll give it a whirl
