I think many will say Orfys version is the nearest. I have brewed it only once and it is very good, just finishing up the last of a cornie of it.

Googled Orfy's - This sound about right working back to normal quantities?

So for 30 Ltrs

Total Water 52Ltrs

Mash with 15ltrs

5.22Kg Pale Malt
272g Crystal/Caramel
218g Dextrine/Cara-pils?
163g Chocolate Malt

While Sparging Add - thats diff
15g Stryrian
15g Fuggles

Then another
15g Stryrian
15g Fuggles
30mins into the boil.

Then another
14g Stryrian
14g Fuggles
When the boil has finished.?

The Brewing Network had an interview with the brewer recently: http://thebrewingnetwork.com/shows/791 Tells you everything you need to know.

I've done Orfy's clone with ringwood yeast and it was good, not a perfect match though.

Well there you go 80% syrian and 20% cascade in the whirlpool for the original hobgoblin :)

I'll post the whole recipe up when i've finished listening.

The taste is totally different from bottle to cask but the head brewer seems to think it's from the same batch! Bottle is 5.2 abv and cask is 4.5? Something Doesn't sound right to me.

great point gnutz, which brings me to my qns... Do breweries really brewing a seperate batch for the cask n bottle?? Especially in this case where hobgoblin has strong bottle sales, i dont think they are that free to brew seperate batches.

I read some ppl mentioned the can packs a greater hop punch than the bottle...
