It's certainly easier second time around and I (hopefully) learnt from my mistakes last time: prepare more liquor at the start, pay closer attention to the temperature of the grains during the mash and use slightly more water when sparging.
After sparging, I'd collected 8.6 litres (up 0.6 from last time) with an 86% efficiency, so I must be doing something right. According to my figures, I had a 96% efficiency last time which doesn't seem right for a first attempt so I must've written down a wrong number or something...
Of course, the real test will come in a few weeks time. I'm going to try and keep a bottle from attempt #1 aside to compare against, but it could be tricky
