Gypsum vs DLS

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Gypsum vs DLS

Post by dedken » Fri May 13, 2011 8:38 pm

Brewing tomorrow and I have run out of DLS. Am I to presume that Gypsum (being calcium sulphate) can be used in the same way i.e. a portion in the mash and the rest in the boil? And should I adjust my calculation in some way to account for there being no sodium or magnesium in the gypsum?

I will be using the 'brupaks'/nigel porter (spreadsheet from CBA website) water treatment method....
