Crystal Hops

Post by pas8280 » Thu Aug 18, 2011 3:09 pm

I have 100g crystal hops sat in the freezer and was thinking of doing a lager/ale hybrid using them. Pacific gem for bittering then 4 late additions of the Crystal to use the full 100g, has anyone used these hops in large amounts late on ?

For such a low alpha hop, Crystal really packs a citrus punch. I've used them in Belgian dubbels and they can be quite intense even with small late additions. I personally wouldn't use them in lagers, but they could be good late in an APA.
