So after a brew i clean the FV out in the shower, i clean it using a toothbrush where i have too till there is no sign of any crud/particles(takes a while), i then rinse in cold water and again with hot water - as hot as the shower will go. I then fill with about 5 liters of again as hot as the shower water will go and add either bleach or the brewers bleaching powder, i swill it about and leave it for 30mins assuming than the steam inside will bleach every part. I then rinse out several times with cold water and that's it, i also bleach the spoon and airlock and rinse etc..
This always seemed ok to me but i realise it could be more specific.
Is this suffice to sanitise
Re: Is this suffice to sanitise
Have you a problem with your beer?
What causes you to consider the cleaning regime?
I sanitise, after physical cleaning, with only a litre swirled round, but that is with Starsan.
I was under the impression that bleach required total submersion to be effective, but I could be wrong.

I've sprayed with bleach solution and have been infection free in the past.

A tip: If using bleach to santise the FV, after you have rinsed, have a spray bottle with a rinse free solution of either starsan or metabisuplhate + pinch of citric acid. The dilution rate for satrsan is 1.5 ml per litre, can't remember for metabisulphate. Anyway this will drive off the chlorine and that bleachy smell as well as leaving the fv ready to brew with

I use this method these days. Will never look back. Cheap steamer. Inside the fermenter reaches 100+c for 20 mins. Brilliant. Before I hook it up, I give it a very quick swirl/rinse using the shower. Takes around a minute.
