Slight sulphur type smell

Post by Sheepy » Wed Jun 13, 2007 11:19 am

A bit ago I did 2 youngs difinitive lager kits, one was just glucose made with ale yeast, the other was done with glucose and honey, againg with ale yeast. both fermented out well and were bottled after 10 days or so. After trying a sneaky wee test of them both the one with just glucose now has a slight sulphur type odour whereas the honey one was fine. The only difference i can think of is that i normaly rinse my bottles (2L PET) with sodium met and rinse with boiled water. However may not have rised the smelly batch (had had a good evenings sampling to be in tune with the beer  ). Would this cause the smell and will it go if left to condition?
Cheers again.
Sheepy.

I always thought the sulphur smells were indicative of making lager with a lager yeast. :?

I dont think its infected. It has cleared out fine and there was no unpleasant taste, just a slight wiff on the nose. Will give it a few weeks and try again.
