Canarian Christmas recipe

Post by DaveyT » Sat Sep 29, 2012 10:43 pm

Hello
I had planned something for Christmas but due to a power cut while I was in the UK the ingredients are no longer available. The fridge freezer was off for a couple of weeks with and average temp of thirty degrees so the hops got caught in the slurry of the freezer and the mandarin marmalade sprang to life in the fridge. So I'm looking for something to new but feel a bit stuck for ideas.
I've got Progress, Brewer's Gold and N Sauvin hops. I was thinking of perhaps a simple Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold clone, but it's Christmas, init? I've got access to the usual spices, orange peel, all that gubbins. There's even a crystalized orange peel that is eaten at Christmas in Spain. I'd love to chuck some that in but I don't think they sell it until November and I need to get this brewed before then.
I'm also planning an Arkell's Mash Tun Mild clone with mixed fruit, mixed peel, mixed spice and cinnamon for a Christmas pudding effort so I'm reluctant to repeat that. Something blond would be good as the beer fridge is looking quite dark at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

David
