list of ions for beers

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Post by john luc » Wed Oct 17, 2012 1:12 pm

I am looking for a list of what are the ideal ions that each beer would prefer.

Bitter and pales CaCO3 30-50 ppm, Calcium 180-220 ppm
Mild Ales CaCO3 100-150 ppm, Calcium 90-110 ppm
Porters and Stouts CaCO3 100-150 ppm, Calcium 100-120 ppm
Pale Lagers CaCO3 20-30 ppm, Calcium 100-120 ppm

I do not have Sodium,Sulphate,Magnesium,Chloride.
any help would be appreciated.

Graham's water treatment calculator might help. The notes are very useful as well.
