Perry experiment!

This morning I attempted my first Perry,
One 450ml of Meridian Pear juice concentrate, with no preservatives or added sugar.

Meridian Pear juice concentrate,

Apple juice (1.5 liter)

Pear juice concentrate added to the Demijohn
Image

2 liters of water added to the pear juice concentrate and apple juice (1.5L)shaken and two teaspoon of Nottingham yeast was added

good luck obliv, I did a one like Tubby s did a while back, and got the same results as him it's still in the dj and very cloudy at the bottom

yours is a nice colour

The cloudiness is form the apple juice, pressed juice not form concentrate

I have seen problems with the nectar products before, this is pure concentrated juice no pulp. Very similar to a juice you by off the shelf before they add back the water.

Hulk, how much did you pay for the concentrate? It looks like it would cost about £8 for a gallon, with yeast and apple juice?

The pear concentrate was 4 Euro (2.5-2.7 stg?) a bottle that will make up to 3.8l of reconstructed juice, I think it cost around 6 stg in total.

Not cheap but it was an experiment to see if I could make a reasonable Perry

i did a perry with 2 bottles of the meridion stuff. didnt need any sugar sg was 1050 ish (i can check) but anyway the results were not good.

Hopefully yours will be better

Very nice like a sweet-ish cider with a fruitier nose, don’t know what the F.G. is as I broke my hydrometer to night as well!
