Wantsum Brewery One Hop

Post by barneey » Sun Jun 16, 2013 3:10 pm

Had a bottle of Wantsum Brewerys One Hop last night, which was the Bramling X Hop.

http://www.wantsumbrewery.co.uk/Regular_Ales.html

Anyone got a recipe for it at all?

It made a very nice change to my normal Amarillo brews.

Cheers

I've never come across any Wantsum recipe specifics, but their website says the One Hop ale is based on their flagship bitter recipe. They point out its "ochre" colour, and elsewhere they make a big deal about their toasty, biscuity malts.

So, I'd just go with any tried-and-true amber English Bitter recipe with toasty and biscuity aspects (most likely Maris Otter base malt plus some pale Crystal malt, maybe some Torrified Wheat and maybe some Brewer's Caramel, right?) and use Bramling Cross hops for all bittering, flavour, and aroma additions.

Good luck!

Cheers for the reply, I think I`m going to go down the route now of doing the classic pale ale recipe I have (tried and tested) and continue with the one hop brews. :)

Perfect. I'd love to hear how the Bramling Cross one turns out. Cheers!

Clive, they're only down the road from you, go knock on the door. Day out in Canterbury, let the missus shop, you go play beer.
