Coopers Wheat beer -> Hefe

Post by LovesDaBrewing » Thu Jul 19, 2007 10:02 am

Hi all,

I have a coopers wheat beer at home I am about to brew, I was just wondering would it be possible to tweak it so it tastes like a Hefeweizzen, like adding a tablespoon of corriandor or orange peel into the primary with it?

Or am I just having crazy thoughts?

Does anyone have any experience doing this with the Brupacks PoY West Riding Wheat, which as a 3Kg kit might offer a bit more quality? I've always fancied that kit and the potential to jig around with it by addign coriander and orange peelings also sounds fun.

Right, I'm so impressed with your plan, I'm going to do this Coopers' wheat recipe too unless anyone thinks I should go for the Brupaks West Riding instead?

The coriander and sour orange peel aren't a problem and I'm thinking of substituting Muntons Spray Wheat Malt, Saaz, Styrian and White Labs Hefeweizen.

Wouldn't start it for a few weeks though.

Ah!

Um. In that case, I might go for the 3Kg route, having shunned single cans until now, not sure yet.

Right, then I'm placing an order. I think I might have to get a Brupaks kit too. They can sit and look at me expectently thorugh August, but I might as well order it all now as I need a tap for my Corni too.

Do you reckon Spray Wheat malt is a good idea of Light Spray Malt?
