Water filter

Post by Andy » Wed Mar 15, 2006 2:36 pm

Following on from the other thread which drifted onto the subject of water filters....

Just purchased a B&Q water filter cartridge, the type with the speedfit posts at each end - cost £9.95. Also bought a speedfit 10mm to 1/2" BSP male connector which I'll hook up to a hosepipe via a Hozelock tap fitting. Hopefully the 10mm speedfit won't be too loose a fit on the filter post, tried it in the office (without water!) and it fits fine but we'll see if there is any leakage. If there is then I may ask DaaB nicely if he can source a 3/8" speedfit to 1/2" male BSP connnector

I can confirm that the 10mm speedfit fitting fits the B&Q filter cartridge perfectly and doesn't leak! Connected it all up to the mains water and end result is lovely chlorine-removed water!

DaaB - the speedfit adapter is 10mm to 1/2" BSP male. The hozelock tap adapters are dual size, 1/2" and 3/4" if you remove a screw in insert. I actually used a brass B&Q "clone" of the hozelock tap adapter but only because that's the first one I put my hands on.
