Pressure Barrel Leak

Post by Telford Brew » Thu Sep 25, 2014 10:08 am

Hi - I managed to get a few brews done recently so latest went into a barrel I haven't used for a while. I primed and after 10 days at room temp, pulled off a little but could see it hadn't carbed. I gave a quick blast of CO2 and could hear it escaping from a small hole near the top the barrel :(

I'm after some advice on what to do. Just carry on dispensing until eventually it goes off or should I transfer to another barrel..hopefully without a leak! My instict was to transfer but then i thought it might expose to splashing / air and end up ruining beer quicker that just leaving as is and getting another brew on at the weekend!

Cheers in advance

Hobson's choice really. If it still tastes good, then it might be worth transferring in order to get it carbed. If you attach some tubing to the tap you should be able to transfer with minimum splashing. Or you could hobble on with it the way it is. But what ever you do, it's probably best drunk quickly
Best wishes
