Turbo Cider Yeast

Post by Wez » Sun Sep 09, 2007 10:07 pm

The last batch of TC that I made I used Youngs Cider Yeast, i'm really happy with how it tastes, nice and dry just how I like it but the yeast doesn't settle well it rises from the bottom of the bottle too easily when pouring which means I'm loosing the last 2" or so. Anyone recommend a good TC yeast that will stick to the bottom of the bottle better, I've used s-04 but wasn't happy with the taste. :?

Windsor turned out nice for me, but a pain to get to clear; I also have some young’s cider yeast but have to try it yet

Youngs wine yeast, in a plastic tub from Wilkinsons worked well - cleared OK, sweetner tablets were needed as usual. S04 also works very well.

I will be giving Whitelabs English Cider yeast 775 a try shortly and will report results. Others seem happy with it.

I'm currently fermenting a 24 litre batch using Whitelabs WLP775 for the first time as it seems to be highly appreciated here.

Interesting this yeast has settled on the bottom and the cider has been clear for days now even though its still fermenting pretty rapidly. The OG was 1065 and its now 1010 and falling daily......

it tastes pretty good and at 7.3 % a.b.v already, it's pretty deceptive 8)

.....are they still called samples if you drink them by the pint ? :D

Cheers
