Advice on biab
right i am a complete noob at this and wanting to try my first chocolate stout what would i need to start ? all i have is a big standard boiling pot and a thermoniter.

A bag, fermentation vessel, grain, hops, syphon, hydrometer. There's a big list, Wilco do a great starter kit with most of the equipment needed. You'll need to get a hydrometer, separate though. Then all you need is a bag. There's probably more but this covers the basics. I'm also will to come help you if you wanted as I've done a few BIABs so far and will be doing my next soon. Just make sure you set a good few hours aside for your first.

when you say the vessel you mean a fermentation bucket if so i have a couple of them got a hydrometer on order

sounds like all your missing is a grain bag,you can use a plain white pillow case or knock something up out of net curtain material,of course you’ll then discover a whole list of must have things that aint essential ,and dont forget something to put the finished beer into,unless you intend to do a ditch and drink it straight from the fermenter

a muslin bag is ideali have a muslin if that would do
dont forget something to sterilise the bottles and crown caps and capping tool if using standard beer bottlesi am wanting to bottle and store it

TW,
If you make your own bag from Muslin or Net curtain, make it at least 200mm lipping over the edge of the pot all
the way around. If you make it too small, you will struggle to pick up the bag and it weighs a bloody ton!
I found this out on my first brew on Tuesday!
Obviously, don`t let the bag overhang get anywhere near the heat source!
