First try at home brew wine,
I have read instructions for my wine kit and it says wine wont be ready untill it shows a reading of 996, but i cannot get the reading below 1006. It has been in the demijon for 10 days and probrably manages a bubble every hour. It is in a room with a constant temperature of 21 deg. Does any one have some advice for a first timer? Thanks
All it means is the wine will taste a little sweeter, and won't have as much alcohol, otherwise it should be fine.
I'd give it a few more days.
Also if its only in primary, then will still have to rack it off into another demijohn, and this process will rouse the yeast left in suspension a bit and you will probably find it will drop a few more points in secondary.
