Newby Advice required on Geordie Lager x2

Post by Codlet » Wed Dec 05, 2007 12:19 pm

Hi all,

I've been fermenting 40 pints of 2x geordie lager kits, no sugars, for 6 days, and been checking the gravity readings daily.

On the second day gravity was 1.036
Third day was 1.021
4th 1.017
5th 1.014
6th 1.014

The wort has a really strong smell, the kind that gets right up your nose like thinners or something would.

Has it fermented or should i leave it a bit longer ?

You are probably smelling the CO2 from the fermentation, i'd leave it for a few more days yet, no need to hurry it out of the fermenter.

Sounds fine to me. I'd leave it a few more days as Delboy suggests

Day 11, still on 1.014

I've stirred it gently a few times every other day
Shall i pitch some more yeast ? Or would this be fermented now

I'd imagine thats it done, since you've used two tins and no sugar the gravity will be higher 1014 should be spot on i would have thought.

I reckon you could bottle/keg it any time that suits you.
