Hi all,
Just opened my first batch in 20 years, Telfords Export, am really pleased.
Can anyone suggest a good simple 5% lager for my second brew?
Many thanks.
What next?
Peter - I am sampling a bottle of my mates coopers Bavarian Pilsner made with 1kg of spraymalt and the coopers yeast and I can honestly say it's the best kit I've tasted
. If I'd have discovered it in summer I wouldn't have started making grain beer so soon. It's a really nice pint, the only problem is I'm nearly finished it

I have a question.I am a newbie and just starting a coopers lager,I have got 3lbs/1.3kg of light dme to use as well as brewing sugar I see from your quote that you use 750g dme and 250g sugar, the can I have is 3.75lbs/1.7kg-I was lead to believe that you add equal weight of malt/sugar to match can.DaaB wrote:The Coopers lagers are good. I prefer to make them using 750g of spray malt and 250g of brewers sugar but if you want to keep it simple then just use a bag of Beer Kit Enhancer. You'll need to dillute it to 1050 to get 5%, you can use your hydrometer but 30 pts should be about right.
Any help/advice please
BTW glad to have this forum as a form of knowledge,it certainly has opened my eyes to brewing

Hi aceuass
I think what you have is Diastatic Malt Extract (liquid in a can). Daab's refering to using 750g of Spraymalt or Dry Malt Extract (a powder)+ sugar
I would have thought using the full can of DME instead of Spraymalt and sugar would be OK but this is a punt, I've never used DME..... I'm sure someone who knows more about it will be a long in a bit........
I've made this kit using 1 kg of spraymalt and it was great!
Hope this helps
