I have made a slightly less strong version of this brew, I have always had great results from it, here is the link to the post.

I just barrelled it, slight problem along the way, keg top split as I tightened it, but its safely in with 80g brewing sugar to prime it.

Cant wait now!

Forgive my ignorance.

But why would a 90min or 120 min boil be needed if you can get to volume and gravity in 60 minutes.

I normally mash for 90 minutes does it need to be 2 hours (Will this give better inefficiency?

Well I usually stick to 90 mins for both mash and boil but apparently...

The longer boil makes the trub become more coloidal and therefore clump together more readily leading to clearer runoff. I have also heard though that a long boil can lead to poor head retention which may or may not be a problem depending if you like froth or not (I personally quite like some froth).

As for the longer mash, I have heard of people that mash overnight and recently someone posted here about an article that said a 20 minute mash ought to be enough so I guess you pays your money and makes your choice :?

Guys, just want to say - this really DOES taste like OSH. Just had a sneak taste while checking OG, intend to transfer to barrel on Saturday - its dropping clear now and is looking good.

Oddly enough the book 'Clone Brews' recommends wyeast 1084 Irish ale yeast for this brew.

If you prefer dry yeast, Safale S04 is popular around here. I personally like Muntons Premium Gold & Safale US-56 dried yeasts.

I used Gervins English Ale.

It previously brewed my TTL and is now brewing another batch.....

Well it was doing well, but I had a gas leak somewhere in the cap, so I've had to replace it and add a small amount of extra sugar to re-carbonate (not ideal i know) - and I've moved it indoors to re-gas (my OSH is sitting on the only heated pad I have in the shed). I tested it on Sunday and it was fizzing up nicely, in fact I've just moved it to my office on the floor in the corner to stop myself taking sips before Xmas day.

However it does taste very very good, lighter coloured than TTL, but it has fab aroma from the styrians and a very white fluffy head - yum yum.

I've also just orderd a CO2 adapter to take the small sparklets canisters, should avoid any problems in the future......
