Bottled Conditioned Beers where they gone???
Bottled Conditioned Beers where they gone???
Hi all, I am looking to get back into brewing as its been too long since my last brew previously I have been a Big fan of harvesting yeast from shop bought Bottle conditioned beers (UK) but lately I am struggling to find any bottle conditioned beers at my local supermarkets its all New Breweries with beers in half bottles or cans and it seems like the Bottle conditioned beers I used to buy are being pushed out by the new beers !!
What happened to these Bottle conditioned Beers to mention a couple I have used before
Bengal Lancer
Coniston Bluebird Bitter

Marston's Pedigree is now bottle conditioned. I believe Hop Back Summer Lightning is too.

Re: Bottled Conditioned Beers where they gone???
I've bought a couple of bottles of Proper Job (St Austell Brewery) which I'm hoping to recover from. Belting pint on draft in North Devon and is a genuine bottled conditioned. Can't say whether it's conditioned with the fermenting yeast though - time will tell.
Just checked on mysupermarket web site and seems widely available.

Proper job yeast works well and is reported as the original pitched yeast. Fillers 1845?

Hey all, I bought 2 bottles of "Proper Job" & 2 bottles Shepherd Neame 1698 to harvest the yeast from, first starter made with the Dregs of the 2 bottles of "Proper Job" lets hope it takes off Was great to get back into brewing even if it was just boiling the malt extract for a starter

I know the pj yeast will work well .. so good luck . It's bit slow in fermenter but doesn't need rousing or anything .. unless it is dead sluggish . Don't think it worked well when I tried to repitch though .
