Evening bigun 8)

All done and sorted 25l of 1.040 wort 24 in the bucket and 1 in the freezer for yeast cultivation. I hope this is as good as the ones I've brewed myself as it'll hopefully be up to the standards of the group

Now you've got me flummuxed.

When I lived in the area I used to visit the Wyndam Arms(?) on a fairly frequent basis and as far as I am aware the hop back brewery was well established before my time (my time was 1989 to 1992-3 ish), but it was during my time there that Summer Lightning was conceived. I am sure I remember drinking "Summer Light", but I may be kidding myself.

Certainly, John Gilbert was brewing before Summer Lightning hit an unsuspecting public. No fledgling brewer is going to produce something so radical at the time as his first brew. Everybody in the brewing industry was gobsmacked at its instant success; probably including J.G. himself.

I do not wish to demean S.L., it's a classic, but basically it is Harp without the fizz.

(Harp was single-infusion top fermented)

Oh heck! there has been half-a-dozen posts in the meantime.

My previous post was directed at Daab's previous post, if that makes sense.

Yep, I was with J_P and can confirm the lager was made from "Halcyon", the yeast was genuine kroninburb yeast aquired from Camerons who are brewing it on contract.
 How did he get yeast from such a big brewery?

I just went in to the visitor centre and asked for some, could'nt have been more helpful. I've collected strongarm yeast before while on a brewery trip.

If you do try it be warned that it stinks of egg and can get a little stroppy if it gets too warm.
