brewday Honeybeer (thanks Wez)

Post by jonnybeer » Tue Sep 18, 2007 2:02 pm

Been brewing for 1 year this month so thought it's about time I posted a few pics as a way celebrating my brewing anniversary.
The recipe is a straight copy of Wez's Honeyale.
The only exception being I may dry hop with some late aroma hops.
Thanks to Wez for the recipe,Reaper and Gurgth for the ingrediants and DaaB for the flying starter.

Thanks Daab. Simplicity suits me. As my old Da' used to say "keep it simple Son"

Go Johnny, Go Go
The Beer'll be good

I'll get me coat

Have a good day, three tier breweries are the way forward. Mine's isn't as shiny as yours though, it'c cobbled together out of a wallpapering table and a beer crate I found in the allotment!

Looking good - what type of mash tun is that and what's the capacity? I've seen another somewhere (maybe seveneer's kit?) and like the look of it for a potential shiny christmas present for myself.

Hi a.r, it's a 30 ltr. double skinned. Came without a tap but there's a thread on the forum about these and how to fit taps etc.

I'll try find it and post a link later.

I find i'm only dropping say 1 degree over 90 mins in the mash temp.

I don't think you'll be dissapointed if you buy one.

edit sorry it,s a 20 ltr.

Cant fault it mate. It looks like most of us join everything together with jubilee clips and the odd bit of pipe. The thing is that next time you will undo a few of the pipes and redesign it. I have never made the same brew twice and never used the same kit, I tweak every time.

Nice one JB 8) Great pics, you won't be disappointed with this one, mine was supposed to remain untapped until mid October, it was so nice though it went long ago

Cheers for that fella - found the thread discussing taps for it and found a tun on the 'bay although none less than 70L, but it is a good excuse to double the brew length  Catering services may have an order at some point. Or not. I never underestimate my powers of procrastination.

hi, yes they are the ones.

If it's any use I drilled through the bottom of the tun to fit the manifold and have 3 stainless legs welded to raise it allowing the 15ml copper pipe to exit beneath.

I find it allows me to drain of almost all of my sparge liquor leaving perhaps 1 pint of dead space.

Hope this makes sense

Yeah I noticed that, was thinking of doing a similar thing with a false bottom, we'll see how the cookie crumbles over the coming months. Cheers for the info.
