i have bottled my brew and put the amount of sugar stated 1/2 level tea spoon per pint and left at room temp for about a week, i must admit it does say store in a cool place for a further 10 days but this was not the case for coopers :? i have used normal cane sugar as well could this be the problem ?

well personally i would have used more sugar myself but thats just because i like my lager fizzy.
i doubt your sugar choice would have caused a problem. it sounds like you did everything right, i wonder if your bottles didnt
seal properly. are they all flat? and did you use glass or placcy?

1/2 a tea spoon per pint bottle is about what I do. Did you use any finings, and when you say you bottled the beer, was it in glass bottles with crown tops or plastic PET bottles?

You really should leave the beer somewhere cool for a few weeks as this allows the priming sugar-generated CO2 to dissolve in the beer. It's the dissolved CO2 which gives the beer its fizz.

sorry for the delay

i bottled useing 2 litre plastic bottles but all seem to be flat never mind tho trial and error and all drinkable :=P

i have now done another brew of geordie lager useing brewing sugar and lager yeast also bottled useing 2 litre plastic bottles and moved them to a cooler place in the house.

i am new to this homebrew game but my dad used to do it years ago he told me to put sugar in the bottles after filling them and leave them them to cool for 10 days so hopefully with help from yourselves and family i should get the perfect pint ......
only wish carling did a kit !!!

cheers andy
