Sherwoods Forest Bitter(with pictures)

Post by oxford brewer » Sun Nov 12, 2006 6:37 pm

Went to my local HB shop and decided to get this Sherwoods kit, which is a 3.6kg kit.

I had a beer that had been in the FV for just over 2 weeks so i decided to transfer to my glass carboy for a week or so to clear a little more.
Image
I then made up the kit and then pitched onto the yeast cake that was left behind(Danstar Nottingham which seems to settle a bit more compact than the safale-04)
Image
Took a hydro reading as i transfered the wort which was 1.046
Image
Following advice from i think DaaB i decided to aerate the wort with my my spoon attatched to my drill...pure genius .For some reason i cannot get this picture the right way up :? Image

It has started bubbling already(2 hours)so i must say thanks to my assistant brewer....Cameron

As you can probably tell i have just discovered how to put pictures in my posts  even if it did take me longer to get this post written and pictures uploaded(mobile phone playing up alongside nokia pc suite) than it did to transfer one beer, mix up this kit, transfer it to the FV and clear up afterwards

The pictures are a little confusing Daab.I siphoned the beer from the primary to the secondary very carefully (couldn't get any pics of that as i had both hands full) .The picture i think you are on about
Image
is the wort from the Sherwoods kit being poured from the plastic bin(which i mixed it up in) onto the yeast cake left behind in the primary.

I've done two Sherwood kits, Best Traditional Ale which came out very well, I've also done their IPA which wasn't so good but was drinkable.
