any columbus recipies plz

hi all i have 100g of columbus hops im not sure what to brew with them any ideas plz cheers lee

Pale single hopper around 1.040 and 25-30 IBU, no bittering addition - all the bitterness coming from additions late in the boil. I usually use an addition at 15 mins, one at five mins and then add whatever is left at flameout, then steep. Simple grain bill - mostly base malt with maybe some e.g. Munich or even a small amount of Crystal. US-05 or Nottingham, or any other neutral yeast that will allow the hop flavour and aroma to shine.

That's what I'd do, at any rate. It worked particularly well with this beer.

Skittlebrau's beer is a great idea, sounds similar to the Kirkwood Station Burst Hop below.

Lucky you. I've been thinking of getting a bunch of Columbus to play with. It was bred in the US, mainly for the big Bud/Miller/Coors boys as a super-alpha-acid bittering hop, genetically identical to Tomahawk and Zeus, hence the C-T-Z called-for in some recipes. So, keep your eyes peeled for any of those names in recipes. However, homebrewers and craft brewers have discovered that when used for late additions it has distinctive, pungent, oily, grapefruity, pine resiny, black currant, profound ganja-weed flavours/aromas too. Used thus, it will turn any ol' recipe into an immediately recognizable American Pale Ale.

IBU: 93
Colour: hazy light brown

Grainbill: Pale Ale Malt + very small percentages of Vienna Malt and CaraPils/Dextrine Malt
Hops: tiny bit of Columbus (First Wort Hops, then start 90 min boil), Galena (30 min), Columbus & Galena (15 min, 5 min), Cascade (whirlpool), Columbus (dry hops)
IBU: 28 (relatively low bitterness, but HUGE hoppy flavours and aromas)
Colour: clear golden
Yeast: Chico/American Ale/Sierra Nevada/WLP001/Wyeast 1056/Safale US-05

i like the look of the Tallgrass Oasis Brown IPA but not sure about calculating the quantities of the various hop additions. any guidance on how to calculate quantities for a 25l batch would be appreciated

For a US 5 gallon batch: 1oz each Northern Brewer and Columbus for 60 min. 1oz Cascade for 30 min. .5oz Columbus and .25oz Northern Brewer for 15min, 1oz Cascade at flameout. .5oz each Cascade and Columbus dry hopped for 7 days.
