Re: APA
Looks great Mysterio, I'm a new USA hop convert myself after my Vienna / Cascades APA, so I'd be very interested to see how it comes out.
How did you manage to miss your OG? Why don't you just dilute it down to 1.053?

Re: APA
I have no idea what happened. The 1.060 IS a result of dilution - I got 13 gallons! I was worried about diluting hop character by adding more water.
I must have F'd up somewhere anyway. I did sparge much slower than usual which may have made a difference. Or maybe I just didn't weigh out the grain properly.

Re: APA
Interesting, so that's about 92g in at the end for aroma for a 25L brew length (a barrel is 136 L right?). No wonder I complain about not enough aroma - I need to double up my finishing hops! What style of beer is that with the 5kg of Mt Hood at the end ? Or is that something standard on all your beers?
Re: APA
Racked this into kegs tonight. I'm a little bit surprised the aroma is quite faint. I was expecting a green smog of hops to overflow from the sample jar like dry ice and asphyxiate me. Oh well. I guess it is more of an APA after all. Maybe it just needs a little carbonation to lift it out of the glass. Might have a sneaky pint later on.
Re: APA
This turned into a nice beer, the hop aroma blossomed over time. Right now as i'm sniffing it, it has a great fresh hop aroma. So i'm a dry-hopping convert. I think the hop oils become suspended in the beer and are brought to the fore via carbonation
This is a good starting point for Goose Island IPA. It's quite similar only not quite as punchy as GI. The GI IPA also has a little more residual sweetness. Incidently I was not trying to clone this beer but I had a bottle at the weekend and it was remarkably similar.
