Dual Regulator
Dual Regulator
Hi, advice please.
I've just bought a dual regulator off Norman 3 gauges type - 1 bottle pressure - 1 gauge for each of the two outlets side by side mounted on a brass block - 2 grey cones with screw adjustment for adjustment of out put pressure.
The reg fitted to pub gas bottle, using outlet nearest bottle with K/Keg works ok pressure adjustable and gauge giving reading, screw on second outlet backed out no reading on gauge no escape of co2.
When I connected Corny Keg to the second outlet turn in the adjust screw I can't get the pressure above gauge 1 pressure - if I increase gauge 1 pressure I can then increase gauge 2 to the same pressure but not above.
I thought that each output would be individually controllable 0 - Max separately is the unit faulty or have got it wrong?
Cheers.

I don't know the exact reg you have, but you are describing a typical dual reg. The second gauge is acting as a secondary regulator, which are limited to the highest pressure available from the primary reg. So, it's working as intended. If you need one keg higher pressure than the other you will need to connect the highest one to the primary connection.
Thanks for that Jason

Sorry for the delay takes me ages

Norm supplies Redditch Controls reg's. I have a 3 way Reg, 4 guages from Norm.
The way JA describes the reg function is quite correct for Norms Reg's.
The 2nd in line reg, will not supply gas at a higher pressure than reg 1. So put the keg requiring the higher pressure, maybe for force carbonating, on reg 1 & the keg at maybe normal dispence pressure on reg 2. Simple.
Then sit back and enjoy a home brew. :beer

Doingatun, sorry to jump in on your post but I also need advice on this regulator.
I set my 1st gauge to 20psi and also the second. I disconnected my cornies to give them a bit of a shake and then reconnected them and they both still read 20 psi. The 1st lot of gas should have been absorbed quite quickly, or at least a drop should have been noticed.
How can I tell what the corny's have dropped to ?

Getting quite miffed now, here's what I'm doing in order.
Purge gas from corny using prv
Open the gas bottle, bottle gauge shoots up to 800psi give or take.
Open screw below regulator nearest gas bottle by turning clockwise until 20psi is reached in 1st corny.
Open screw under 2nd regulator turning clockwise and nothing happens no pressure at all?
Help
PS, DaaB Yep, purged the o2, looked at your post on priming b4 starting with gas, you were/are invaluable as ever

DaaB thanks for getting back so quickly
Did exactly what you said and got co2 coming out of both outlets.
I re-attached the air lines and raised the first corny to 20psi as before.
I then opened the second reg and gas could be heard charging the corny but no reading on the dial. I tapped the dial a couple of times and still nothing

BB no sign of leaks.
Opened the screw fully on reg 2 which means it sould pressurise to at least 20 psi as thats what 1's set at. The corny gassed up but nothing on the dial.
No flow can be heard once 2's up to pressure.
Just to prove 2's pressured, for experimental purposes only

Its my Nelsons Revenge
I also tested corny 1 for comparison you understand  It was a bit metallic
