May Have Got away With It / Fluked It.. :)

Well a big thanks for all the replys to my earlier..' added sugar to a malt kit that didn't need it' oops Newby first kit error,
as predicted by a few on here I may be okay and indeed after getting a hydrometer and checking tonight (6 days on) I am down to 1.016 on my Admirals reserve and the initial vigourous froth has now given way to a gentle bubbling all over the surface, the smell is quite pleasant, in fact not too disimilar to the brewery just down the road at M4 junction 11 :)..

So fingers crossed I'll keep checking every couple of days and see when it stops bubbling / stabilises and see what I get down to on the hydrometer.... temp seems a very stable 20 degrees in the cupboard on the stairs....

Dont know how Im gonna wait for it to fully mature though :)

Cheers (a very relieved) Steve

You'll probably find a fair few people adding sugar to kits that dont need it  Sounds like its fermenting down just fine, I bottled my first brew at 1016 and added half a teaspoon of sugar to each bottle. I spent a nervous week awaiting for the shattering of glass and beer which fortunately didnt happen.
