Post by Wez » Mon Nov 05, 2007 5:11 pm

Guy's I can't find my Whirlfloc tablets so it looks like for tonights brew i'm back to using Irish Moss - does anyone use it? For best results how much should I use and when should I add it to the boil?

or....

I don't suppose anyone can remember where I put them can they

Add a couple of tsp to a pint of Boiling water stir and leave for 5-10 minutes, then add the mess to the boiler with 15 minutes to go.

Of course why kid yourself, the beer will be cloudy anyway :D

its usualy 5g per 5 gallon batch. you could always brew a wheat or stout beer
I find irish moss quite inconsistant from one supplier to another. give it a good rehydrate and a good 15 boil for the coarse gring stuff.

Scratch that - Just found them :pink:

Ain't it a great feeling when you've resigned yourself to loosing something then you find it! Mrs Wez thinks i'm mental for celebrating quite so much

Someone might want to answer the original question though as it might proove useful in the future...

They were in the corner cupboard by the way near the tupperware boxes  I recon Mrs Wez put them there when tidying up after me  :P

I like my haze beers cause I'm part of an elite club of special brewers who are able to regularly produce such a phenomenon

there are special chemicals in the food industry used to achive a perminant haze (just in case it went clear on the supermarket shelf)
real lemonade, smirnoff ice and possibly even summer lightning.

And we stumbled across it accidently and refined it to perfection
