Good job Ben.

Another tip: It's best not to aerate the wort too much when transferring from mash tun to boiler (during sparge). Use a length of tubing so that you can drain the tun without aerating the wort too much. It's post boil when transferring to the fermenter that you want to aerate as much as possible.

Cheers for all the words of encouragement - much appreciated. I started doing kits about 3 years ago and not really sure how I ended up going AG - it just sort of happened...loving it though!!

So I suppose I should think of what to brew next - I have 2 barrels, one for this one and another which is nearly empty - and there is nothing worse than an empty barrel!

Well done Ben. For your next brew have a peruse round the recipies section for inspiration. There are the classics in there 100% satisfaction, styrian stunner, EB stout etc,etc. And if you are unsure there are so many folks here who will point you in the right direction.

I'll head off to the recipe section and see what tickles my fancy! Going to get another AG going (hopefully with some improvements to the first). I figure if I get cracking it'll be ready for chrimbo!

Best of luck to everybody! (but especially me cos I need it - probably more than the others)

On the AG subject - I always said I would never bother - kits were fine - good results at a good price...don't know why I ended up here - not sure I'd go back either....the equipment doesnt cost that much (when you're a scot like me a little goes a long way!)

Post another reply in 3 weeks time when the first pint comes out. You will not be disappointed, none of us are and we keep getting better and faster. Its also amazing how many new friends appear and how many of them cant believe you actually made it because it tastes better than pub muck. I have trouble drinking in some pubs now. I have to reside in a travel lodge every month for a sales meeting. Sometimes they have Martson's Pedigree on handpull. If they dont its Tetleys smooth flow. I almost have to try and not breath when swallowing to try and avoid the bland taste :lol:
