Christmas Turbo Cider

Post by monk » Fri Nov 16, 2007 4:51 am

Around this time of year the stores are full of holiday apple ciders, with cinnamon and clove and some citrus in them. Well, my wife and I bought a gallon for a party but no one drank it. This morning before work I saw it sitting on the counter and an opened wine yeast packet within arm's reach. The deed is done and random tc has struck again!

Incidentally, I've often had the urge to dose the bottles of cider out on the counter in the kitchen at work with a bit of yeast...and see if anyone gets themselves tore up the next day.

I'm guessing the American "cider" isn't alcoholic? Adding yeast to British cider wouldn't have very much effect!

On the subject of Christmas TC, who's going to be the first to add cinnamon, cloves and citrus to their next batch of TC? Be interested to hear how yours turns out Monk. :D

I've now got 50+ pints of TC and 40 pints of beer ready for Chrimbo. Merry, err... (hic) something everybody!

I have used whole cloves and ground cinnamon in TC's and its ok.
The one with cloves is ideal if you have a toothache

I've got a still cider where I used a cinnamon stick in the primary fermenter and mixed with honey, It's a month or so old now, I'm waiting until Xmas to try it.

Who knows nowadays! What comes labeled as "cider" in the bottles is more like what my parent made and called "wassal" (sp?). Just spiced apple juice with some added citrus or pineapple juice. I'll let you know how it turns out...could be good...definitely potent!

Cheers.
