Rubbish! By all means try a few kits made up with beer kit enhancer (I am currently swilling a tweaked cheapo Geordie bitter kit made up with a kilo of BKE which is very tasty) but don't use all sugar. My point was that if he is a newbee, he should get started. He should try with sugar, without sugar, with different kind of malt etc and that way get experiences

We are all different when it comes to taste. The beer I have made with some sugar has a better taste , I think

He should test more types and find what he likes...
