Suggest my next kit

Discuss making up beer kits - the simplest way to brew.

I have decided to do a few more kits, going to do a porter next then maybe a barley wine. After that I if am still enthusiastic about brewing then I am going to try a mini mash brew of the above recipe to get into AG as having looked at the prices of ingredients it seem AG is quite a lot cheaper and hopefully as a hobby more fulfilling. I Was hoping I could do extract brewing for a while first but the costs are too high.

The biggest factor for my enjoyment of brewing is time. Don't put yourself under pressure by time constraints. AG for me is 9-4pm. It can be done quicker and comfortably so, but this suits me and my set-up. Look forward to AG, gather your ingredients and equipment together the day before, and give yourself the whole day to brew. You may be surprised how much time you have left!

Unfortunately time is the one thing that is limiting the amount of brews I can get in.

I tend to try and start as early as possible (around 6am). I tend to fill my kettle at night and have a timer switch. By doing this my water is usually at temp by the time I get up. This saves me about 40 minutes straight away!

Even with this done my brew day lasts between 6 and 7 hours. But, with the early start I still normally have enough time to spend with the family in the afternoon!

Just trying to find some time that I will be able to brew. Maybe in about 3 weeks I can claim the Sunday for myself!!!

I had a very efficient brew day last weekend. I mashed in at 6am was boiling by 8 and in the fermenter by 10. Another hour for clean up and that was it done. I wish they were all as straightforward....
