Does anybody know if there are any kits out there that come close to an old peculiar / Hobgoblin / Riggwelter Style brew?? or are there ways of adding to kits to enhance them??
Cheers
Enhancing Beer Kits
DaaB has suggested ways i can improve on the kits i get here in NZ. Not sure if they have worked yet as i'm just giving them a go. Also i couldn't quite get what was suggested so here's to luck eh.
I certainly enjoyed DaaB's way of making up a kit a whole lot more than the instructions on the can. It was a bit more effort but i actually felt like what i was doing had some input rather than just throwing canned stuff together.
The yeast starter was an awesome tip and i will always do that now. My fermentation started virtually instantly and my first bubbles in airlock appearded after 4 1/2 hrs! Miraculous compared to the 24hrs i've previously had to wait. All in all it only took me twice as long as my kits instructions! But next time it will take me a considerable time less as i have all my equipment trialed now.
I recommend you look at DaaB's My way to brew brupaks kit's. Get some advice from kit brewer's who have done your style of kit before and have fun.
I haven't had this much fun in years!

Re: Airlocks
Nope. You want to do that.andyryan218 wrote:Probably a basic question but i'll ask it anyway. Am i right in thinking its ok to snap the lid closed as long as their is an airlock fitted on the primary FV?? Will this do the ale any harm??
