Liqueur kits?

Post by ukmike99 » Sun Jan 13, 2008 1:49 am

I`ve been looking at the Prohibition kits(especially the peach schnapps).
Are they any good?
Many years ago I did a Blue Curaco(prob spelt that wrong)
It was blue, smelt lovely and fruity but tasted disgusting.

Thank for the links DaaB.
So basically with these kits, you add sugar to water, add high alcohol yeast and ferment a "vodka" then add flavourings to the (filtered)product?

So apart from the kits containing the (brewers)sugar, yeast, flavourings and finings in one handy package,it would possibly be cheaper to do it yourself and you could make bigger batches?

Not only that but there is quite a lot of evidence that the only real difference between cheap vodka and expensive vodka is the price.

quite true, run cheap vodka through a water filter several times and you'll get something close the the best vodka in the world (even the chairman of Smirnoff couldn't tell the difference) - Myth busters proved that one convincingly
