First brew with my new equipment

Mmmmmm, can almost smell those hops boiling from here.

I'm very envious, as not brewing today. Been playing with my classic car instead.

So do we all eagerly await our invites now, to the grand tapping ceremony in about 2 months time?

That's just before the hot break...nice...

Well, I managed to break my thermometer, and I only got 4 imperial gallons (I was a bit wary of filling this 29ltr boiler up to much on it's first outing). But all in all, a very enjoyable experience. The wort chiller worked very well, and I used the waste water to clean up afterwards, and used soda crystals to clean the boiler and wash through the chiller. Finally boiled up a gallon of water and let this run through the chiller to be doubly sure everything was nice and clean. B)

I was thinking that the hot break looked a little bit like a "yeast cake"...so thought andy was referring to this.

Adams bitter from the wheeler / protz book on real ale. Got a couple more mins of boil, then got to cool it to add yeast starter. Didn't mean to brew today, just do water treatment but got carried away! :rolleyes: Going to cool it via the one fermenting bin in another with cold water to cool method. Did this after the water treatment and it seemed to work ok.

What was your tipple BB?

I through together an extract brew with John Bull Light and Amber extract, First gold kettle hops and cascade finishing hops. I didn't use a recipe, just guessed some quantities. :blink: Hopefully it will turn out okay. OG was 1.050.

Yep, I'm ready to start another brew now. Just emptied a keg of bitter last night. I'm on the Guinness clone tonight and have a Pale Ale maturing which sould be ready shortly. But I think I'll await the arrival of my 3 new Cornies before I brew again, as they'll be new toys for me to play with

Normski says he has everything I need, but his pc is down at the mo, so just waiting for him to get back to me with prices etc.

Did you get his last 2 kegs Andy? I think he must have some more now by the sounds of it.
