I,m using videne and use a 1/3 of a teaspoon per litre no bad batches yet with that concentrate, make sure you get the surgical hand scrub one.

Have been using videne at 1/4 tsp per litre and no problems but will increase it now just to be sure

Ditto bigster, and I'm not changing the amount as it works for me

I'm pretty sure it's the same concentration at 10.0%w/w povidone iodine which equates t0 1% available iodine.

Make sure you get the aqueous solution FP.

Is it a no rinse?
Yes, but due to my inherent distrust, I always swill it off with boiling water.

My nearest Boots didn’t have it in as they had no pharmacy.

I then tried the nearest Boots with a pharmacy in house.

They ended up charging £4.20 after this....

When I rang they said they didn't do it. Because of what I have read on here I told them it was the replacement for Betadine. They still said they had none in and didn't offer to get any in. After asking them to look it up to order in on Friday the person put me through to the pharmacy head who promptly looked it up and asked me which type e.g. tincture, hand scrub or antiseptic. I went for the antiseptic. They said come in tomorrow to collect. Sure enough it was there on Saturday morning.

After discovering the low level of Betadine in my original 500ml bottle, I popped in to the in store pharmacy in my local Morrisons an enquired about Videne . . . . Yes we can get it . . . Good I'll take two . . . No problem Ordered and we will give you a ring when it comes in . . . . . Great!

Rang today, it's come in, good I'll come and collect it . . . . And there started the saga. I was given the three degrees by the pharmacist as to why I wanted it? It wasn't suitable for the application!, why did I want so much . . . If they sold it to me I would need to sign the poisons book . . . . It was sorely tempting after 10 minutes of this to say "F*ck it! Keep the s*dding stuff and I'll order it on line!". I'm much to much of a gentleman to say that to a "lady" so I persisted on, and ended up with two bottles for 2.94 each so a result in the end.

That's way OTT but the price is good 8)
A local chemist won't give as much grief.

It's starting to really p**s me off the fuss over Iodine.
For ch***s sake, petrols far more damaging to all concerned ....
