First brew with my new equipment
Kegged my ale today (not in one of my corny's
). Had a taste, and it had a kind of medicinal twang (can't think how else to describe it). This is something that I have had in all my beers so far (except for the first Woodefords kit I made). Is this just young beer taste, water, sanitation...? I have improved my sanitation, so I don't think it is this. It's really pi$$ing me off

I let it stand for a few days, and I boiled the full volume of liquor this time, so no additions of water post boil.
I have thought that I am just not rinsing enough after sanitising my fermenter, but I swill water around the fermenter at least four times, and then spray with Betadine solution a let stand for 10-15 minutes to let the excess solution run off (still a few drips left, but I figured this would not be enough to taint the beer? Plus this batch is the first that I have used Betadine with).
I thought it might be my cooling rate, but this time I used my counterflow chiller.
I thought it might be the water, but I have had the taste in previous brews using bottled water.
I have used different yeasts - Gervin and Safale S-04.
The only common demoninator is that I have used John Bull Malt extract in every brew.
So, I'm puzzled as to what it is.

I suggest not using this in the next brew, if nothing else you can eleminate it from your enquiries
Well, next brew is an AG. :pink no more John Bull for me!
I shall definitely invest in a water filter. Got any good suggestions on the best type?
