Beer Characteristics Database

Guys,

As most of you know Im the Continuing Education Director for the BJCP. In the CEP we come up with ways to help better train beer judges. One program Im particularly fond of I call the 'Beer Characteristics Database.' Basically, its a ever growing database of worldwide beers that are sorted by their ingredients (e.g., ones that stand out). There are a ton of places to learn about whats wrong with a beer, which we do a lot of, but no where that has anything specific to characteristics given by various ingredients for different styles. What I would like is your guys help. If you know of any commercially available beer and its ingredients you can help. Just a simple post to this topic saying so. Hopefully this will help educate brewers and judges a like. Say someone wants to taste a beer with roasted barley, them could search 'roast/ed barley' and the results would indicate which beers feature it. They can then try the beer/s and see if they like it or how it changes over different styles and amounts.

Ingredients can include, hops, grist (malt, corn, sugars, etc), specific yeast strain and other (bugs, wood, fruit, veggies, etc) Here is a little template you can use:

Brewery
City and Country
Website
Beer
Ingredient
%/ amount of ingredient (if known)

The more information the better but just the beer and ingredient will do. I can find the rest of the info. If we work together, we both can profit from this knowledge.

Thanks a ton guys!

If you have a bunch, you can email or PM me with them. Questions or comments appreciated as always.

RCH Brewery
North Somerset, England
