I done two of these now. Big mistake. First i got over excited with strength and bunged in 2kg extra 'fermentables'. It's currently a month old in the bottle and really quite bad. 2nd i stuck to just the kit ingredients but added Sticklebract Hops and followed the great advice from DaaB. Considerably better but still not great. It's only 2 weeks in bottle though. Tastes like Burton from a crap Ind Coope pub
In hindsight i wish i'd not bothered with either. Compared to Muntons Nut Brown, Muntons Gold IPA(which was fabulous) and Brewcraft Bulldog and Honey Porter(Chocolate Redwood Ale) the old english bitter is a bit rubbish.
You live and learn eh?
My Fuggle & Sticklebract version tastes like someone came along in the night, empited all the crap beer out and filled the bottles with great beer!
That's really nice of them.
Just goes to show that leaving it the right time to condition pays dividends, it's really drinkable now.

My method of throwing in an extra 2kg of fermentables just cos i had them around doesn't work. Month in bottles and still foul. First brew ready for the drain... Oh well.
Can i be bothered to leave this any longer conditioning? I don't think it will improve at all.
