I racked my Brewers Choice IPA into a secondary today and was surprised by the lack of sediment in the bottom of the primary.
I've done a few kits now and they've all contained at least 1/2 an inch of sludge at the bottom of the bucket, but this one only has a couple of tablespoons at the bottom. It doesn't even cover the bottom just the centre region of the buckets base.
It tastes great though and it's only just going to secondary.
Does this sound like any of your experiences?
Brupaks Brewers Choice IPA
I had a OG of 1052 and an FG of 1012, 3 days running. On transfering I had a qc sample, like you do. At 1st I thought it was totally clear so I put it up against the one of the halogen light bulbs in the kitchen and it was full of particulate, very fine particulate. I worked the abv to be 5.2%...that's quite a strong beer and about right for an IPA.
The top of the primary was completely clear and had been for the last couple of days. I took a sample from the top layer and it was relatively particle free.
Strange brew this one
Lets hope the brewcleer shifts the sediment

just out of interest, which 'choice' did you do with your IPA? spraymalt or extract? (I know for a fact you didn't use sugar, brewing or otherwise!!)
Reason I'm asking is I'm just tasting a single tin Muntons at the moment but I added Brupaks Amber Extract instead of spray malt or brewing sugar and its really good.
Would you recommend the Brupaks choice range kits coz I ain't done any of them yet, although I'm a big fan of the other Brupaks range and done loads of them.

Hi Garth, I used choice 3, the premium grade malt extract 1.5kg pale. The pre maturation taste is deeper in body than any of the other beers I've brewed from kits.
I suppose it depends what you like. I go through phases of golden hoppy ales and heavy English Ales like Hens Tooth or Tesco's maximus. I also really like IPA's and that's why I did this one.
I'd definately recommend this kit based on the result so far....this beer is going to be killer.
I'd like to do it with option 1 also, a light IPA..hmmm
By the way, I had virtually NO yeast in the primary or secondary. That's a new one to me

I racked this IPA into the corny yesterday and same story again....no sediment.
I have a sneaky feeling Vossy1 has been playing tricks on himself. I had an Almondbury Ale in secondary with loads of sediment and a IPA in primary with none...hmmm...me thinks there has been a mix up somewhere.
Out of interest that would mean the almondbury has been in primary since the 14/08. When I so called racked to the secondary the FG was 1012 but tonight when I DEFINATELY  racked to secondary it was 1010.
I kept trying shot glasses of the Almondbury expecting it to go bad, but it didn't, and that's what started me thinking.....not a good thing
