Should have added, the hydrometer reading was 1035, is that ok for a start?

That's exactly what I thought.

Brilliant! Hope you had fun and it turns out well - thanks for the pictures.

I give you three months tops before you buy your first piece of shiny kit!

Shiny, don't worry, you'll soon know! Shiny bits are beer toys, fermenters, boilers, chillers -anything. Plastic is functional, but stainless or copper is just more- shiny!

I am also new to this hobby (~6 months) and I just bought my first proper shiny bits (a 33ltr stainles steel saucepan HLT & wort chiller). Of COURSE I bought quite a lot of plastic, and grains, and hops, and - perhaps I'll stop there in case SWMBO somehow finds this site...

Enjoy! love the astronomy site BTW, I dabble a bit also, your pics put mine to shame (probably coz I am too pissed to get my collimation right!)

Just checked it, it seems to have stalled? Seems quite flat, but I asked m father in-law and he says it'll be fine. Fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
