Brewfern Belgian kits

Post by marky66 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:52 pm

I am thinking of starting a Brewfern kit at the weekend, does anyone recommend any particular one, I am a big fan of Leffe , both bruin and blonde and was wondering if any of these kits make a good substitute, they are certainly strong enough. The website recommends bottling this kit is this just for speed or does it improve the condition. Im going to bottle anyway, as being a newbie I want to try different things and these are only 9ltr kits anyway.

The Gold,Old Bruin and Tripel are all excellent kits! Similar to Leffe. :D

I'd recommend the triple. Best to do 2 kits at once as they yield small batches. See my site for the brew log, sort by beer name, and check out the brewferm entries.

The Tarwebeir or Wit is beautiful but if you use either candy sugar or golden syrup watch out for the hangover

I made some of these Brewferm kits up with spraymalt and they were very nice. They have an authentic Belgian twang to them.

Thanks for all the advice Im going to go for the Tripel made upwith spray malt as my first stab at these kits . I think this one sounds most like Leffe Blond , which is one of my favourite tipples

Had a little trouble getting the primary down to 1010, had to add a starter, then up the central heating . but got there in the end. Bottled last tuesday and Im going to let this condition for a good couple of months , as Ive heard these take a lot longer to mature.
The usual little taste when bottling was quite good though, herby and very strong tasting a bit like Leffe blond
